Happy New Year! May 2025 be a wonderful year for everyone.
The Yuka Yugetsu Artist Residency is currently undergoing renovations to reinforce the exterior walls and roof, as well as interior upgrades. Starting February 6th, we are excited to welcome two artists and researchers from Germany, Karina Nimmerfall and Jeff Luckey. Karina will be collaborating with Kyushu University’s Faculty of Design Futures and will stay with us for two months.

WHAT WE DO
At FIKA, we are dedicated to empowering artists—both digitally and physically. Our work centers on three core commitments:

YukaYugetsu Artist Residency: Through our residency on Nokonoshima Island in Fukuoka, Japan, we offer a tranquil space where artists, curators, performers, and art scholars can retreat, reflect, and create.

Our name, FIKA, carries a double meaning. In Swedish, "fika" means to pause, share coffee, and talk with friends—a small daily ritual that holds real significance. We believe art works the same way: it may not seem essential to daily life, but engaging with it helps us notice what truly matters.
FIKA is also shorthand for what we do: Fostering Inclusive Knowledge and Art—reflecting our commitment to accessibility, dialogue, and the transformative power of contemporary art.
Digital Project SUPPORT
Each artist brings their unique vision and style. We aim to foster collaborations that respect the artist’s creative vision while enhancing it throughout the process.
By honoring the artist’s intentions, we help create projects that deeply resonate with audiences and collectors alike. We also support the exhibition of AR artworks, ensuring their effective presentation in exhibitions.

FIKA is deeply committed to fostering the long-term success of artists and art thinkers. Recognizing the importance of providing artists with the time and space to rejuvenate amidst nature, we proudly offer this opportunity through our YukaYugetsu artist residency.
At FIKA, we understand that creativity flourishes when nurtured in serene surroundings. Our artist retreat in YukaYugetsu provides a haven where artists can immerse themselves in nature's beauty and artistic renewal.
